Craig was born in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. He trained at Drama Centre in London and after graduating in 1992, he landed the leading role opposite Harvey Keitel in cult film, The Young Americans.
He then, after multiple screen appearances played Sean Bean’s younger brother in When Saturday Comes before landing a regular role in the TV series Casualty. Soon after, he played Harold Bride in the film Titanic. He then starred in the Oscar nominated short film Killing Joe.
He was then cast as Vince Tyler in the seminal hit TV show Queer as folk. Other appearances on TV followed including regular roles in The Grimleys, Hotel Babylon, Collision, Clocking off and an Emmy award winning series of Waking The Dead. Craig was also a regular in Coronation Street playing the womaniser and con man Luke Strong. Since then he has made many more appearances on TV including Monroe, Moving On and Silent Witness.
He has also appeared in many plays over the years working at the Donmar Warehouse, West Yorkshire playhouse, Soho Theatre, Bolton Octagon, Glasgow Citizens and Trafalgar Studios.
Craig is one of the UK's most prolific voice over artists, well known for his distinctive voice, narrating multiple shows and documentaries (including Ship Wrecked, Ax Men and Rich House Poor House) as well as many TV and radio ads.
He is also a keen footballer, playing weekly and is a black belt kick boxer having trained for 20 years in the martial art.
Most recently he produced and starred in the Blackpool based gangster flick Trick or Treat, which also includes the stellar British cast of Frances Barber, Jason Flemyng, Kris Marshall, Shaun Parkes, Hugo Speer and his brother Dean Lennox Kelly. The award winning film was released in cinemas October 2019 and is due a major digital release in the UK this June and US in October 2020.
